The Snowdrop Project

The Snowdrop Project is a Sheffield-based charity that empowers survivors of human trafficking to live lives free from their past. The Snowdrop Project provides holistic, long-term community-based support to survivors in the UK to recover from their past, have hope for their future and reach a place of independence.

When Laura walked through the doors of a safe house for her first day of work in 2011, she was unaware of the life changing impact it would have for her. Laura always knew that modern slavery and trafficking existed but seeing the impact it had on peoples lives for the first time was eye opening and learning about what a human is capable of doing to another human and hearing the first hand experiences was heartbreaking.

Working in the safe house Laura discovered that whilst the safe house was great at creating a place of safety, starting a support plan and helping people come to terms with being out, after 6 to 8 weeks this support came to a very abrupt end and no further support was offered. Within days or weeks, Laura would then receive phone calls from people she had supported begging for help because the had no income, felt isolated, or couldn't read letters and phone calls from professionals explaining that people had gone missing, developed issued with alcohol or were experiencing mental health problems. Laura couldn't live with the knowledge that people who had already suffered extreme abuse were then just being abandoned.

With this passion, her social work knowledge, training and a faith that spurred her on, she began to design a program of support. Reaching out to contacts she know would be able to help a small team of volunteers was created and the first stage of Snowdrop began!

The Snowdrop Project now offer an incredible range of support for those coming out of trafficking and modern day slavery from support with ongoing police investigations, support with finding and furnishing a home, counselling, finding work and integrating into society.

To help them continue their incredible project we will be donating 10% of all our profits between October & December 2022. If you would like to find out more and support the cause, you can visit their website here.
