I met Julie-Anne 6 years ago when a friend recommended this nail tech who did incredible nail art. At the time Julie-Anne was renting a desk in a very cold and dingy hair salon right under a huge air vent and it was the middle of winter, but she was playing Blink 182 (not the new stuff) so it made it better!
Fast forward 6 years, I haven't found anyone I trust with my nails more than Julie-Anne and I will travel over an hour for her to create another masterpiece and have a catch up with someone I now call my friend in her very own beautiful home salon!
Unfortunately I can't put Julie-Anne in a subscription box for you, so these blog posts will be for all those small businesses who can't be put in a box but are too incredible not to be mentioned!
Here is the first of our 5 minutes with...
Tell us something about your favourite holiday destination?
The place we go back to the most is my home, Canada! For the harsh -40C very white winters or the gorgeous and hot summer days by my parents pool! The temperatures can very so much from summer to winter!
How do you chill out when you aren't working?
Cooking or baking! Or have a nice meal with my husband with a couple of glasses of wine.
What stories from your life will you tell your children about?
How me and my husband met! He was working as a Cast Member in the UK Pavilion in Epcot, Disney World and I was a guest visiting from Canada. We had a brief chat and he cheekily left a little note in my packages with his email address. We exchanged a couple of emails but it wasn't until 4 years later that I found him again on Facebook by chance. We spoke for a few months and I decided to come over to the UK to visit and it was love at first sight. We've never looked back since. We have been married almost 10 years!
If you could have dinner with one celebrity, dead of alive, who would it be and why?
John Lennon. He was an absolute legend! I would just like to talk to him all night about how to bring peace into this world.
What childish thing do you still enjoy?
Loads! I'm refusing to grow up. Disney films, skipping when out on walks, pulling my tongue out when someone says something I am not happy about and many more!
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An actress!
If you could give your younger self any piece of advice, what would it be?
That is's ok to be nervous about something but to not let the nerves take over. Just go for it!
